Serve, Spike and Smash your way to fun this summer with Beach Volleyball in Emerton!

Join Emerton Leisure Centre in celebrating the launch of their new beach volleyball court at their birthday bash on Saturday, September 5 from 11am with a huge community celebration.

The beach volleyball court at Emerton will be a great addition to the Leisure Centre, giving the loal community another recreational and sporting opportunity and avenue.

Based on an International sized court, the court is 8 metres by 16 metres plus run-off space - a 3 metre sand perimeter. The court also has a 2 metre wet-pour rubber perimeter which can be used for marshalling and spectator seating.

"The addition of beach volleyball to Emerton Leisure Centre will give the community a chance to play a sport that they would normal not have convenient access to its facilities", Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles said.

"This is the first beach volleyball court in Blacktown City and we are expecting it to be embraced by the indoor volleyball player who frequently play at Emerton but also amateur players and those who are playing just for fun", Mayor Lowles continued.

Mayor Lowles with a special guest, Wayne Pearce will officially open the beach volleyball as part of the Birthday celebrations on Saturday, September 5 and a mini beach volleyball tournament and exhibition match will be held at 12pm.

The beach volleyball courts will be available for hire from Sunday, September 6. Hire will be $10 for 1 hour, and money is fully refunded subject to the ball being returned and all conditions being met (normal pool entry is also required).

Tournament and block bookings are also welcomed.

Bookings are subject to availability and weather conditions, and can be made by completing a booking form at the Centre or by calling 9628 7016.

The beach volleyball court compliments the existing facilities at Emerton Leisure Centre which include an indoor 8 lane 25 metre lap pool with ramp access, leisure pool with beach entry, shower and spray jets and spa-seats, waterslide, program pool, 2 multi-purpose indoor sports courts with spectator seating and dividing curtain, change-room facilities, fully operation café area, an outdoor 7 lane 50 metre Olympic pool, outdoor 25 metre sheltered program pool, children's playground and picnic and play areas.
