Emerton Leisure Centre supports local family by being brave and shaving

• All money raised will go towards Winram family : 11am, Thursday, March 12

Emerton Leisure Centre is throwing its support behind a worthy cause and hosting an un-official World's Greatest Shave event at Emerton Leisure Centre (Jersey Road, Emerton), from 11am - 12.30pm on Thursday, March 12, 2009.

Residents, community groups and local businesses are invited to come along on the day and have their head shaved in support of the event and help raise money for local family, the Winrams, after they unexpectedly lost their husband and father, Blake Winram.

Blake Winram was a Senior Pool Attendant employee of Blacktown Aquatic Centre and had been with the Centre since 2005.

Blake was 41 years and passed away after fighting Oesiphgal cancer and leaves behind his wife and three school aged-children.

"Council and its staff are sadden by the news of Blake and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are extended to his wife and children. Blake was a great asset to the team at Blacktown Aquatic Centre and will be missed by everyone", Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles said.

Donations for the Winram can be made at Emerton Leisure Centre on Thursday, March 12 as part of the shave event or anytime from Monday, March 2, 2009 at the front reception.
